single vendor check alignment for printing

My computer recently crashed and my new computer does not have the proper setting needed to print by vendor checks.  I am on Quickbooks Pro 2018.   I use a single check fed through the bypass tray. The print on the check is beginning in the middle of the check, rather than on the left edge.

Thanks providing enough information, TGC1.

When things go like this, we can perform troubleshooting to fix this unusual behavior when printing the vendor check. The steps below will guide you through the process:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file.
  2. Once downloaded, save the file where you can easily find it.
  3. Now, let's open the file and follow the instructions on the screen. After you finish installing, click the icon twice on your Windows desktop.
  4. Select Program Problems in the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  5. Click QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.

Once done, print the check again to see if it is good. The information is also available from our guidelines on how to troubleshoot this kind of behavior. You can refer to here to get further details: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

Please give me an update on how these steps work on your end. I'm always here to help.

Thank you for your assistance!   Unfortunately the suggestion did not fix my problem.  I believe it may be because we use standard checks and not voucher checks.  We purchase the checks from intuit as standard 3 on a page checks; however we seperate them into individual checks and print a single check to pay a vendor with.   We use the printer option as Standard check, centered in our bypass tray and being ran through using the landscape option; which has always worked in the past.   When I try to align the check to move the print over to the far left  (currently printing in the middle) it will only allow me to go -50 up to 50.  Both of these adjustments do not move the print on the check at all.

Hello, @TGC1.

You'll want to set up the printer settings to adjust the margin or alignment. Here's how:

  1. From File on the top menu bar,
  2.  Select Printer Setup.
  3.  Choose Check/Paycheck.
  4. Ensure that you have the correct printer and Check Style selected, then press OK.
  5. Click the Align button to adjust your printer settings.
  6. Click Help in the Print Checks window.
  7. Respond to the Did check(s) print OK? message.
  8. Hit OK.
