Strange Header Appears on Windows (Editing Transaction...)

Hi. I noticed that my QB headers started to show this (Editing Transaction...) section. Not sure why this is showing up. I used the IIF to do some import/export trials, but I did not touch this specific company file. I am using Quickbooks Premier Account Edition 2019.

Any help would be appreciated.

Strange Header Appears on Windows (Editing Transaction...)

Hello, @Johncc85

Let me explain to you some information and limitations using the Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) in exporting/importing QuickBooks Accountant data.

You're able to import transactions, but you're unable to export them from your account. Listed below are the limitations.

  • Import a limited number of list items.
  • Unable to import or export price levels that are set up on a percentage basis.
  • Can import assembly, though cant import data in the custom fields.
  • IIF cannot use exporting payroll data.
  • IIFs work if you import data to the same region.

For more information, visit this article: Export, import, and edit IIF files.

Please note that QuickBooks doesn't offer assisted technical support for creating or importing.IIF files. If your IIF came from a third-party app, I'd suggest contacting the app’s technical support for further guidance.

If the issue persists, after checking the limitations, I'd recommend running the verify/rebuild data in your account. To fix any potential data issue. Please follow the steps I've laid out below:

To verify:

  1. Select the File menu at the top.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data.

To rebuild the data:

  1. Go back to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data
  4. Hit OK.

Please browse through this article about different duties that you can do in IIF and other related topics.
