Hey there, @accoutning-swmt-.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
This feature is there not to accept American Express payments if you choose not to. If you decide to turn off the feature, you can choose to turn it back on at any time. You can see the details outlined in Add or remove AMEX credit card processing for a QuickBooks Payments account.
Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way. You can reach out to the Community any time. Take care and have a great day!
The question had more to do with "why would someone want to remove AMEX?" What is it about AMEX that justifies a special and prominent link to remove them; are the fees different than the other card options or do they have terms different than the other cards that many users find unacceptable?
Hi there, accounting-swmt-!
I thought of this, too. For some reason, other users would want to disable this option as a payment method. We respect everyone's preferences, and you can keep it enabled in your account.
As Tori said, we're just right here if you have more questions! Take a rest and have a lovely evening, accounting-swmt-!
I can tell you why, as a contractor I have had two clients decide they didn't want to pay for their remodels and do not have to justify credit card "Chargebacks" with American Express. All they have to do is say they were scammed and WHAM a chargeback is coming to the business owner. I've had $16K removed in one fell swoop without a single thing I could do. As a business owner you have no recourse other than writing a letter and waiting up to 90 days for the funds to come back to you. There are people that just are plain dishonest and outright scammers.
The worst part is even if you win the money back, they can continue to chargeback the funds as many times as they want without any recourse for you. As if that isn't enough they can keep on doing that for up to a year with AMEX while other credit cards are 90 days. FYI Discover is just about as bad as AMEX.
