Void/Delete Invoice

Hi there! I am a wedding Florist (new business) that uses a client platform (HoneyBook) to receive payments, send proposals, so on and so forth. HoneyBook connects with Quickbooks seamlessly and my custom proposals transfer into Quickbooks as invoices.

I have a client that cancelled her wedding that was suppose to take place this month. Her total invoice was around $4k. Back in February, she paid her 20% non-refundable deposit with me. That was the only payment I had received from her at this point. I need to know how to get rid of her invoice without throwing my books off by $700 (the 20% deposit). Do I delete the invoice? Void the invoice?

I also already paid the sales tax on $4k of her invoice. If I end up deleting or voiding her invoice, will Quickbooks know to credit my taxes for this quarter?

Help! Thank you!

Void/Delete Invoice

Hello there, @evann-wehman.

Allow me to provide two ways on how to deleting or voiding the invoice.

First, if you create the invoice within QuickBooks Online (QBO). You'll have the option to delete or void the transaction from the invoice list. Let show you how to do it.

  1. Go to Sales from the left panel. Then the Invoices tab.
  2. Select the invoice and click it to expand the page.
  3. Choose More button at the bottom of the page.
  4. Hit the Delete or Void.
  5. Select Yes to confirm.

However, if you're using a third-party app when creating the invoice, I'd recommend reaching out to the third-party web store provider. From there, they can guide you in the process of removing the invoice.

I've attached this article about customizing form templates in QBO, check out this link: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

In case you want to send and print your invoices in the future, open this article for your reference.
