What to do if your EFTPS enrollment is rejected

Did your EFTPS enrollment get rejected? Don’t worry, most times this just means your EIN, Zip code, or Legal name you used on your application didn’t match with the IRS records.

Once you update your information, you should see an updated approval within 24 hours. Then, you can process your tax payments electronically with QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Note: You can only fix one piece of information. If you need to fix more than one piece of information, please contact Customer Care.


  1. Go to Workers or Payroll menu.
  2. In the To Do list, select Let’s go next to Re-enter. 
  3. Enter your EIN number, Zip code, or legal name, and select OK. 
  4. Select Verify if everything looks right. 
  5. Answer the multiple-choice questions to verify your identity. 
  6. Select the checkbox to authorize the forms, and select Done.
