Overview
Information on NY withholding deposit schedules.
Expected Outcome
You will have information on NY deposit schedules.
Assumptions
You have an active Online Payroll account on the Plus level of service, and you are a NY employer required to remit New York withholding taxes.
Details
New York (NY) has two deposit schedules: 3-day and 5-day.
3 Day Filers: Paid within 3 business days following the payroll that caused the total accumulated tax withheld to equal or exceed $700.
5 Day Filers: Paid within 5 business days following the payroll that caused the total accumulated tax withheld to equal or exceed $700.
Your schedule is assigned to you by NY based on your liability in a look-back period. If you accrue $700 or more in withholding liability, you must pay within 3 or 5 business days (based on your deposit schedule). The NY tax department does not accept payments of less than $700.
If you do not reach $700 in withholding liability during a quarter, you may make the payment quarterly with your NYS-45 return.
3-day schedule:
Once active for NY e-services, you are automatically placed on the 3-day deposit schedule. You will not have an option to change this.
