Make a new computer your Point of Sale Server

Follow these steps to move a QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale Server with multiple licenses to a new computer on a network.

1. Back up your data file.
   1. Go to the File menu, then select Back Up Data.
   2. Select Back up to alternate location, then Browse.
   3. Save the backup on your Desktop. Enter a file name, then select Open or Save.
   4. Select Back Up, then Finish.
   5. Copy the backup file saved on your Desktop to a removable media device.
2. Uninstall, reinstall, and update.
   1. Close QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale on all workstations.
   2. Uninstall Point of Sale from the old server computer.
   3. Install Point of Sale as a Server workstation on the new computer.
   4. Update the new server to the most current release.
3. Sync license data online.
   1. Open the new Point of Sale server.
   2. Go to the Help menu, then select Manage My License > Sync License Data Online.
   3. Select OK.
4. Restore your data file.
   1. Insert the removable media containing your backup.
   2. Go to the File menu, then select Restore Backup File.
   3. Select Restore from alternate location, then browse to the location of your backup.
   4. Select OK.
