Align preprinted paychecks for Intuit Online Payroll

Align your preprinted check stock so you can print paychecks in Intuit Online Payroll.

If you have QuickBooks Online Payroll, see Align preprinted paychecks (or paychecks)for QuickBooks Online Payroll) for more details.

 

  1. Select the Setup tab.
  2. In Preferences section, select Paycheck Printing.
  3. In Paycheck Printing Settings, select Preprinted QuickBooks-compatible voucher check stock.
  4. Select Print 2 stubs or Print 1 stub.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Select Open Alignment Window.If you are using Chrome and a blank page appears, or a message to turn on Chrome plugins appears after selecting Open Alignment Window, here's what you need to do:
    1. In your Chrome browser, select the menu icon below the X button.
    2. Select Settings > Advanced.
    3. Select Content settings > PDF documents.
    4. Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome should be turned off.

  7. Follow the instruction in the pop-up window then close the window.
  8. Select Align Checks.
  9. Print the alignment page on plain paper.
  10. Stack your printout on a piece of preprinted check stock. Hold them up to a light to check the positioning.
  11. Follow the instructions on the paper after printing.
  12. Choose the best fit letter and number.  See the Scenarios section below for additional alignment tips.
  13. Select Update Settings > OK.

Scenarios

The check is printing too high

Choose a letter further down the list to move the information down the page. For example, if the current letter in the field Which letter appears just above the Pay to the Order of line? is L, enter a letter from M - X that moves the information down enough to align with your check stock. (This is the line where the employee's name is printed.)

The check is printing too low

Choose a letter further up the list to move the information up the page. For example, if the current letter in the field Which letter appears just above the Pay to the Order of line? s L, enter a letter from A - K that moves the information up enough to align with your check stock. (This is the line where the employee's name is printed.

The check is printing too far left

Choose a higher number on the list to move the information to the right of the page. For example, if the current number in the field Which number appears completely to the right of the dollar sign? is 5, enter a number from 6 - 9 that moves the information right enough to align with your check stock.

The check is printing too far right

Choose a lower number on the list to move the information to the left of the page. For example, if the current number in the field Which number appears completely to the right of the dollar sign? is 5, enter a number from 0 - 4 that moves the information left enough to align with your check stock.
