Change default 40hr week to 38?

How do we alter the default 40hr week setting to 38. Currently sick days and holidays are reported as 8hrs in timesheets but should be 7.6hrs.

Thanks

Change default 40hr week to 38?

Hey there, @IWD01.

Thanks for getting back to me and attaching that screenshot. It really helps me understand exactly what you're trying to accomplish in QuickBooks Time.

To clarify, your work week isn't the traditional 40 hours so you'd like to change the default amount of Time Off entered in our system from 8 hours to 7.6 hours? That ability isn't available right now but I understand its value to your business.

Change default 40hr week to 38?

Hey there, @IWD01.

It's nice having you join us here in the Community. I hope all is well with you.

I'm happy to lend a hand with changing your settings to have 38 hour weeks instead of 40. Let me walk you through the steps below.

  1. From QuickBooks Time, go to your Company Settings
  2. Select the Payroll Overtime tab. Then, choose the Overtime section.
  3. Make your changes and click on Save

That's all there is to it. You can take a look at Configure and change advanced overtime settings in QuickBooks Time for additional details.

Change default 40hr week to 38?

Hi Tori,

Thanks for the response. That setting is already in  place. Our overtime calculations are working fine. What isnt is things like sick days or leave that appear to calculate as 8hrs meaning a 40hr week. is there a way to change that setting so those days calculate to a 38hr week i.e. 7.6hrs a day

Thanks

Change default 40hr week to 38?

Welcome back, @IWD01

Thanks for getting back to me. I apologize that I misunderstood your question before.

When editing the time off (like sick pay) hours, you'll need to use our pay rate engine to set your default by creating rules. Rules are bundled in a setting. For example, you may want to create a setting named Team 1. Team 1's rates are:

  • All hours after 38 per week are paid at the rate of 1.5
  • M - F: First 7.6 hours at x1; All time after at x1.5
  • Sat: All time at x1.5
  • Sun: All time at x2

Then, you can create another setting for Team 2, etc. (You can assign any name to a setting.)

Let me show you how to do this below.

  1. From your Company settings in the Payroll & Overtime tab, go back into the Overtime section.
  2. Click on the Use Pay Rate Engine hyperlink.
    •
  3. Select Manage Pay Rates.
  4. Hit Add setting
  5. Assign team members to the setting:
    • To assign it to all team members, select DEFAULT SETTING.
    • To assign it to individual groups and/or team members: Choose No team members assigned, make your selection(s), and hit OK.
  6. Click on Add. The Pay Rate Engine window displays.
  7. Select the setting name that you just created, then Add Rule.
  8. Enter a name and pick a type.

For further details about this process, check out Configure and change advanced overtime settings in QuickBooks Time

Feel free to reach back out if you need additional help. Take care and have a great weekend!

Change default 40hr week to 38?

Hi,

Those setting dont do what we need. Is there a way to assign standard hour limits to "Time Off Codes"?

If we could set 7.6hrs to the three codes we currently have it would mean that they show up correctly in timesheets. I have attached screen shot. I am not looking to change any rates i just want those time allocations to be correct for a std 38hr week.

Thanks

Change default 40hr week to 38?

Thanks Tori, i will submit suggestion. In Australia most workplaces run a standard 38hr week so having that functionality would be very useful for this market.
