entering 2021 data in 2022

I am brand new to quickbooks.  Can I enter my 2021 data in order to prepare for 2021 taxes on quickbooks just purchased in 2022?

entering 2021 data in 2022

Thanks for dropping by the Community space, k-devon. I want to make sure this gets sorted out.

Yes, you can enter those 2021 transactions into your new purchase 2022 account. Just make sure you'll have all the details then manually enter them into your account.

In case you want to connect your bank account so you can download and categorize your transaction easily, just follow the steps below:

  1. Select Banking from the left menu.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Search your bank or use the correct URL when you log in to your bank's website.
  4. Enter your bank's username and password.
  5. Select the type of account.
  6. Select how far back you want to download bank transactions.
  7. Click Connect.

You can also read through this article for the detailed steps: Connect and add bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Also, if you have payroll we're unable to enter your historical payroll. The ability to enter historical payroll information is only available for this calendar year and there are no paychecks created for the employee(s) yet.

Here are some articles that you can read to help speed up the reviewing process of your online bank transactions:

I've added this article that will help you prepare for your 2021 taxes in QuickBooks: Tax preparation.

Please leave a comment below if you have any other issues or concerns. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. Enjoy your day, @k-devon.

Are you migrating data from another accounting system or only data in XLS?
