Intuit payroll

QBDT had a glitch while processing payroll. Payroll comes from Intuit QuickBooks Time. Once the glitch was taken care of and payroll was processed it has been found that the hours for the payroll has been duplicated on reports and on time sheets. Employees were only paid for the hours worked, but the reports and time sheets show exact duplicates of those hours. How do I identify which transactions are NOT associated with payroll and how do I remove them?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Jill

Intuit payroll

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, Jill Reese. I appreciate your detailed information.

If there were errors on timesheets in QuickBooks Time, you'd initially need to delete the timesheets from QuickBooks Weekly Timesheets first to prevent duplication. Next, you'd unlock time, unapprove time, then edit the timesheets and export data again.

Here's how to unlock time:

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to your QuickBooks drop-down list.
  2. Click Unlock Exported Time.
  3. Specify a Start Date and End Date.
  4. Use the All employees option to choose an employee you want to unlock time for.
  5. Review your timesheets.
  6. Hit Unlock Timesheets.
  7. Select Confirm unlock.

After unlocking time, you'll be able to unapprove the timesheets, make changes them, then export time. Don’t forget to check for any payroll, invoices, or other areas where you may have already used this time in QuickBooks. Be sure to make adjustments to anything that may have already used the timesheets you plan to edit.

If you need assistance identifying which transactions are incorrect in your books and what changes need to be made with them, I'd recommend working with an accounting professional. If you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business' success.
