Time Entries

When we enter time into the time tracking system, the product/service field shows "Service" even though we have selected a proper service code for the entry. "Service" usually appears when a code is not entered. We have tried clearing cache and cookies. Can not enter the correct service code. I need accurate service codes to run reports by product/service code. Any advice?

Thanks for informing us beforehand that you've already taken some steps to address the issue when putting in the worked hours, Accountant2020.

To ensure that we're on the right track, can you let us know how you're currently tracking time? Is it through QuickBooks Online or in QuickBooks Time? Additionally, can you provide us with details on how the codes are being set up?

If you're doing it in QBO, please know that the Service field will let you choose the service items that are listed in your Products and services section. Make sure the codes are added as service items by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Products and services.
  2. Click New and choose Service.
  3. Enter all other details.
  4. Click Save and close.

If the time entries are being recorded in QuickBooks Time, I'd recommend reaching out to our support team. They'll take a look at your time entries in detail to identify why you are having difficulties selecting the appropriate codes.

Here's an article on how to reach out to them: Contact QuickBooks Time Support.

We are using time tracking in Quick Books online.

We are trying to select product/service codes that are in the dropdown menu. It is really becoming a problem for our employees to enter their time.

Thanks for your help.

We are having issues with the system saving time and transferring to the Payroll Department. The employee has entered his time, but Payroll cannot see it when they view QB-Time. We also have had the same issue as you. Are they any known issues going on?

Hi there, melsolf.

I'm here to help ensure the Payroll Department can view the time your employees enter.

Let's ensure the Date range is filtered accurately. It could be the reason why the time entered by your employee isn't showing on the Time page.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Time menu and then select Time entries.
  2. Under the Date range field, enter the correct dates.
  3. Review if the time populates in the dates.

If the time isn't populating, I recommend ensuring the data sync in the program. You can open the View Sync Log to review the exported timesheets.

For future reference, I've included this article if you want to change the permissions for your crew or team member: Add and manage groups, crews, and their managers in QuickBooks Time.

If you have any other questions about syncing your QuickBooks Time app, feel free to comment below. I'll be here to help you.
