2019 1099-MISC reports are not allowed in QB2020. Why?

I'm working on a partnership return for 2019 and I need to run a Vendor payment report for 1099-MISC's.

QB will not allow me to use a date range of Jan. to Dec., 2019.  It keeps changing my date range to 2020.

How can I run the report I need?

Hi @AL Taxman,

I'll share insight on your query about a 1099 report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

I ran a 1099 Detail report in my test account for QBDT 2020, and I was able to run it without any issues. The report was blank since I don't have any available data for that date range though.

I suggest you run the Verify and Rebuild data tools in your situation.

Here's how to run the Verify data tool:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Highlight Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data.

Next up, run the Rebuild data tool:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Highlight Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data.

More information for these tools are in this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop

As for the topic of reports, I suggest you view this article: Customize vendor reports. It has a list of different situations where you'd like to run a custom vendor report, along with the steps on how to proceed.

Tag me in the comments below if you have other questions about reports in QBDT. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

2019 1099-MISC reports are not allowed in QB2020. Why?

I also ran the detail report successfully.  However, I neglected to mention that I was trying to run the 1099 Summary Report.  My apologies for the oversight.  That's the one I had problems with.  Try that report and let me know your results, please.

2019 1099-MISC reports are not allowed in QB2020. Why?

I apologize for not including an important detail in my original question.  The report I had problems with was the 1099 Summary Report.  I was also successful in running the 1099 Detail Report.

Please try the 1099 Summary Report and let me know your results.

Thank you.

2019 1099-MISC reports are not allowed in QB2020. Why?

Thank you for getting back to us and clarifying your concern, @AL Taxman.

I was able to run the 1099 Summary report in my sample company file without getting any issues. Since you're having trouble running this report, I recommend following the troubleshooting steps (Verify and Rebuild data tools) provided by my peer Ryan_M above. It's a good start to check any data issue in your company file.

If you're still having issues running the report, you can check out this article for more troubleshooting steps: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
