A Vendor account has been deleted but I did not delete it?

I can help locate the deleted or missing vendor account in QuickBooks, @sharon74.

There are two possible reasons why the vendor account gets deleted or is missing. First, someone might have deleted it from your QuickBooks Online account. To verify this, you can run the Audit Log.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, and then select Audit Log.
  2. Choose the desired DateUser, and the Events from the Filter drop-down.
  3. To narrow down your search results, you can select specific events like Transactions and Lists.
  4. Select Deleted/Voided Transactions from the Show drop-down, and choose the vendor account from the Using drop-down list.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Then, choose the View link under the History column to see the specific transactions deleted by that certain user.

For more info about the process, please refer to this article: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.

If no one has made changes to your vendor account and it's still deleted or missing, then the browser's cache can be the one causing it to happen. I've got the needed fixes to get around this.

To start, let's access your account using a private window/incognito. This is a good place to isolate a browser-related issue since it doesn't store any cache.

You can use the shortcut keys below to access one:

  • Ctrl+ Shift + N for Google Chrome A63.PNG.
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox A64.PNG and Microsoft Edge A65.PNG.
  • Command + Shift + N for Safari A66.PNG.

Then, access your vendor account again. If it works this time, please go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If the issue persists, I recommend using another supported browser instead.

Once everything's good, you can run an Account QuickReport to get a glimpse of your vendor account's transactions. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Look for your vendor account, and then click Run report from the View register drop-down list.

I'm always around ready to help if you have additional questions regarding this. I'd love to answer them for you.
