Accidentally opened a self-employed account when I already have an account

Long of the short - I've had a Simple Start plan for 18 months. Via Etsy, I inadvertently opened a self-employed account that's currently on a trial period. I don't want to get double billed, and need to make sure it's not going to pull billing information from my other account since I have no way of closing the self-employed account. Will the self-employed account just expire and go away, or do I need to take steps to have it entirely removed? Thanks.

Thank you for posting here in QuickBooks Community. I also appreciate the detailed information you provided with your concern. 


Since you confirmed that the self-employed account you opened is currently on a trial period, this subscription cancels automatically at the end of the trial period without any fees. If you want to cancel it right away to remove the account immediately, I'd suggest signing in to QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser. From there, you'll have the option to end your trial account.


Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser. You can't cancel from the QuickBooks mobile app.
  2. Choose the Gear ⚙ icon.
  3. From the About you section, choose Cancel Trial.

Thank you for the quick reply. I had found information previously regarding cancelling the trial, but when following your instructions to go to the web-based Self-Employed page, clicking on the gear, the only options under "About you" are Inuit Account, Accountant, and Labs. Please see attached photo.


There is no option to cancel the trial subscription, which is where my concern that by having an existing online account already could cause billing issues. If it will just cancel when the trial ends, will I be able to remove it, so I don't have to choose which account to pull up when I log into the Quickbooks app?

I'll share some knowledge about canceling a trial version in QuickBooks Self Employed (QBSE). 


Yes, you're correct that there's no option to cancel a trial version account right now. Due to the updates, some options are removed, including the Cancel trial tab. That's why you're unable to see the button. Nothing to worry about the charges because I assure you that there are no other costs since you haven't entered any billing details. 


As of now, we're unable to remove the test account from your company list. With this, I'd suggest waiting until the last day of the trial. After that, the trial company will permanently be deleted from the mobile app.
