The only thing that is half way working is to run your QBs as Administrator from the Start menu. There are still a ton of problems with the apps etc that you may have connected to your QBs but at least you can use the registers, etc.
- Start Menu
- find QBs icon, right click
- Click Run as Administrator
- Sign on as usual
I did finally fix this error. It was something due to Roboform (which I saw in another post and thought would be crazy!) but it was actually something this program was doing to the front page. They did just put out an update and it fixed the entire thing! I hope this is the same with anyone having this issue.
Update your Roboform to Version 188.8.131.52
Hope this helps!!
Let's get this working, Mitcheti.
Before we continue reconciling the account, let's make sure that your company file is in good condition.
Let us know how this goes so we can further review it. Additional details such as error message would be much appreciated.
I am using Quickbooks Pro 2014. I followed the steps but register does not open. All other features are working including reconcile. I just can't open the registers. No error messages.
Thanks for getting back in here, @Mitcheti.
Let's try opening a test account in QuickBooks Desktop. This way, we can check if you can open your register in a sample file.
Once you open the register in the sample file, it only means there are some data issues in your QuickBooks Pro 2014. To fix this, you can run the QuickBooks File Doctor.
If the register didn't open as well in the test account, then we'll need to upgrade your QuickBooks to its latest version.
To know that your accounts are balanced and accurate, let's reconcile it in QuickBooks Desktop. You can check this article for the details: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know if you have additional queries. I'd be glad to help you. Keep safe.
I have the same problem. I am able to open my company file, but the checking and savings registers to not open. I downloaded the sample company and tried to open it. I told it to upgrade it to Quickbooks 2020 format, but then it just brought me back to the open company screen. I ran "Verify Data" and "Repair FIle and Network Problems" diagnostics and both returned no problems.
Create a backup file and restore it with another name. Another option, open your file on the trial license of QBD 2020. If the same problem still persists, your file is damaged. Contact Intuit Data Service to fix it or purchase a 3rd party file repair service.
I am a CPA and have multiple data files. Registers will not open in any of these files. Running a quick report of a bank account causes the program to crash. I'm using Quickbooks Desktop 2020. This is a new issue that has occurred within the last week
The account registers are not opening in any of my clients QuickBooks data files. I have multiple client data files. This is definitely a software problem. Please fix this problem immediately.
Good Morning, @pmet.
Thanks for joining in on this thread. Since you've tried all the steps above that my colleagues have provided, then I recommend using the clean install tool within the tool hub to help resolve this problem with your register's not opening. Below are the instructions about how to clean install your QuickBooks Desktop.
Step 1: Remove QuickBooks
Step 2: Reinstall QuickBooks Desktop
When you're ready, reinstall QuickBooks Desktop.
I'm only a comment away if you need any more help. Bye for now!
You do not understand. The account registers are not opening for all of my client's data files. This is an issue happening to QuickBooks software. QuickBooks needs to send a new update to fix this error that is affecting everyone right now.
That does not work I had this problem with 2018, just upgraded this morning to 2020
and have the same issue, tried all options, all repair tools and nothing.
any of the registers in the chart of accounts will not open.
Same issue here, started yesterday (Aug 30th).
Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2019
Multiple company files
None of them will open an account Register for any of the accounts
Fully removed Quickbooks 2019
Installed web patch and all updates
Same issue. I still need to try it again without installing the latest webpatch and/or updates.
I even opened an old company file that I hadn't touched in months and had the same issue with it. It doesn't seem like the company files are corrupted since they're all universally affected... it seems like there's a glitch in the Quickbooks software.
Since performing all the steps shared above didn't work, I suggest getting in touch with our Customer Support Team. They have the tools to check your account securely and investigate further why your register won't open.
Before doing so, please review our support hours to ensure your issue gets addressed right away. Also, we've made some changes to our Support options for QuickBooks Desktop. Our representatives are available through chat or messaging to accommodate all our customer's concerns effectively. Make sure to enable pop-up windows on your browser settings to launch the chatbox and connect with our live agents.
Feel free to leave a reply in the comment section if you've got more QuickBooks concerns. Take care and stay safe always.
Same issue here on DT Pro 2019, Win 10. Company opens without incident, but unable to open Checking account.
1. Close, reopen = NOGO
2. Verify, Rebuild = No errors
3. DL sample file, attempt to open = Error 6123, 0
4. Ran File Doctor = No issues
5. Restored earlier backup = Same issue
I am having the same issue. I am running QB Desktop Pro 2018 and can not open any of my registers, checking, savings, credit cards. I have 14 clients and need to work. None of the stuff you have listed here works. WTF? this is unacceptable. I have payroll to run for several of my clients. YOU ARE COSTING ME MONEY
Same here, I have multiple computers in office and multiple files as we are a bookkeeping firm. On some computers the Registers dont work and on most of them the Bank Feeds button isnt responding. I Uninstalled and reinstalled QB on all computers. For some computers it work but for the others it didnt. It's definately a widespread issue QB has to fix ASAP.
Openining QB with "Run as administartor" did give temperary relief
I am using the latest update on Quickbooks Pro2019 Desktop on three computers, all sharing company files on one of the computers. Unable to open my chart of accounts on ONE of the computers but the other computers do allow access. I have tried all logins including ADMIN but will not open any chart of accounts. Running Windows Pro 10 Ver. 1909 OS build [removed]. All QB software updated to latest versions.
After reading someones elses post, hovering over the QB icon and right mouse click "Run as administartor", I was able to open the chart of accounts. So one computer on my office network has this issue and the others do not. It all started yesterday or today.
Thanks for performing the steps shared by my colleagues and letting us know the result. I can see the urgency of getting your account registers working back to normal.
Since none of the resolution steps work, I recommend you get in touch with our Technical Support Team for in-depth troubleshooting. They have tools to help trace what’s causing the registers not to open and apply a real-time solution.
We’ve improved the process of reaching out to our Technical Support Team. You can get the full contact information by going to the Help menu of the company file. From there, you have the option to arrange a callback or get real-time assistance via the Start a Message. Allow me to show the step by step process.
Also, I’m adding a guide that lists our support hours and call me back options to fit our customers' schedule. Then, click on the QuickBooks Desktop link to view the complete information: Support hours and types.
For future reference, here’s a link that covers the troubleshooting steps when the desktop program is not working or frozen: Solutions for when QuickBooks has stopped working.
Keep me posted on how it goes after contacting our support team. I want to make sure this is taken care of. Have a good one.
