I have another way on how you can save the payments, g5040b.

QuickBooks Desktop display is optimized for 1280 x 1024 screen resolution or higher at 100% scaling. The advertisement for QuickBooks Capital can be caused by having large scaling and resolutions that might not meet the system requirements of the product.

System requirements and proper settings indicate they need the display to be Optimized for 1280×1024 screen resolution or higher.

You can support one Workstation Monitor, plus up to 2 extended monitors when saving transactions in your book. Another way is to use the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Alt + A for Save & Close
  • Alt + S for Save & New

Other users are seeing the add too, for now, there isn't a way where we can permanently remove this one. Meanwhile, you can follow the recommendation above when saving your transaction.

Stay in touch if you need other help with QuickBooks. I'll be around to assist you further. Take care!

Thanks for the help. I figured out the "maximize work area" button in the upper right corner. Thanks for the keyboard shortcuts also. Screen scale is set at 100%, but display resolution has different choices than what you've listed. The recommended setting is 1366x768. All the choices have the 2nd number as either 768, 720, or 600. There is no choice for 1024 as you said it should be set at. Seems like I should leave it at the recommended setting.

But why should I have to look at any ad that QB puts on my screen, when I've paid for the program, especially when the ad pushes essential buttons off the screen. I'd understand if it's a free program, and has to create revenue by including ads, but I've paid for this program. See the screenshot. This ad problem was never there in QB 2018. It appeared when I "upgraded" to 2020.

I appreciate you for providing us a screenshot to better isolate this issue, g5040b.

QuickBooks Capital is a service offered by Intuit Financing Inc. This provides eligible QuickBooks customers for business loans.

However,  you have the option to close the ad by clicking the X button. If you're not seeing it, we can run as Administrator when opening QuickBooks to remove the ad when paying a customer.

If the same thing happens, we need to reset the update in your software.

Here's how:

  1. Click Help on the top menu.
  2. Choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Tick the Options tab and hit the Mark All button.
  4. Tap Save.
  5. Got to Update Now tab.
  6. Place a checkmark for Reset Update option.
  7. Press Get Updates.
  8. Hit Close.

Then, close QuickBooks and run as the Admin again.

I'm having the same problem with the ad and not  being able to see the Save options when receiving a payment (thanks for the key strokes, that helps). I too am unable to reset the resolution and just want to get this ad out of the way. I'm unable to update my QB, because when I called support a year or so ago when I was having trouble backing up (it said the data needed to be rebuilt (?)) they worked on it remotely and still the problem wasn't resolved, so I still can't rebuild the data OR backup. I live in fear of losing it all. When I called earlier this year to get this cleaned up for year-end 2019 I couldn't get to a human. I was planning on asking them to please re-open my case because of the issues cased. Now of course my Desktop is no longer supported at all.

So....not only am I not able to rebuild and backup, but now I'm also having to deal with this annoying ad and no apparent way to resolve it--unless of course you're able to help me :).  I'd appreciate any help you can provide me.

Thank you.

Why do I have to jump through hoops to use my program any other way then I have for the past 20+ years.  First of all, this  is not a free program where advertisers are helping to pay for the site.   Secondly and more importantly , it is not acceptable  for  other products to be  introduced to me during my working hours at my expense.

This is a total disregard for your customers time

This is not what we want you to experience, @Marje.

The pop-ups are designed to guide you in using your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to its full potential. However, if this affects your navigation you can close the pop-up by clicking the X button as suggested by my colleague

If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our support team. They can check your account securely and perform additional troubleshooting steps to fix this. You can follow these steps to get in touch with them:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief discussion of your issue and click Continue.
  4. Then choose your preferred way to get in touch with them.

I also encourage checking our Income and expenses page to learn some tricks on managing your income in QBDT.

Let us know if you have any other concerns or questions in the future. We always care about your business success. Stay safe and have a great day!

If there had been an "X" I would have been able to delete the offending ad, but there was none to be found.   Instead I had to waste my time contacting QuickBooks, then resetting my program before closing and reopening.   Please do not talk down to a loyal customer who has had few issues with QuickBooks throughout the years.

I resent your advertising through my business and interrupting our routine.  Please refrain from doing so in the future.
