Just to clarify, are you referring to the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro version? If so, the process is just the same as what my colleague @GarlynGay provided above. You can follow the same steps to add the percentage (%) below the subtotal.

You'll need to enter the negative amount in the amount field (if it's a discount) and enter the positive.

I'm here to show you how to add a footer message in QuickBooks Online.
We can customize your invoice template so we can add a note. However, if you're using QuickBooks Payments, the transaction fee is being calculated and deducted based on the total paid amount. Also, adding a footer note won't be added to the total invoice.

Well, thanks for the reply, but I just upgraded to QB pro 2020. I also just purchased gen lia ins. I need to add 1.5% to total invoice to recoup cost. My total box is in the footer and totals invoice as I generate. I want to add a text box in footer, that will automatically calculate 1.5% of total which will show in balance due.

The option to add a text box in the footer that will automatically calculate 1.5% to the total invoice is unavailable. We need to manually create an Other Charge item for the 1.5% rate. This item type used for things like shipping charges, markups, or other line items that appear on your invoices.
You can also add a Subtotal item to add up everything that comes before it. It provides a subtotal before you add shipping charges, markups, or subtracts any discounts or prepayments.
For setting up a Subtotal item, just choose that item in Step 4. For more details about this one, check out this article: Add, edit, and delete items.
Once done, create an invoice and manually enter the Other Charge or Subtotal in the Item column.
