Added inventory; made mistake and need to undo all transactions related

I was creating a new bill for a purchase of inventory and while doing so I added the inventory items to be associated (or so I thought).  I have since deleted the bill and the inventory did not get removed for some reason.  I want to remove all inventory now; because when I create a new bill it duplicates the inventory. I tried making the inventory I added at first inactive but it adds extra transactions to adjust the inventory and it's very confusing in my reports.  I want to UNDO all of this as if it never happened so it doesn't show up in reports at all.  It's just messy to me. Is there not an undo feature?! I don't want to see all these extra transactions every time I make a simple mistake like this and want to undo it. :(

Re: Added inventory; made mistake and need to undo all transactions related

Hello there, kmasta.

I'm with you in making sure your inventory reports are accurate.

Right now, there isn't an option to undo all the changes and transactions made that's related to inventory in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, I have another way to make sure these transactions will not affect your reports.

Possible reason why it's showing is that there are still transactions attached to inventory that needs to be removed. To achieve this, you can run the Sales by Product/Service Detail Report. This shows your sales, grouped by product or service.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports on the left menu.
  2. Enter Sales by Product/Service Detail Report on the search bar.
  3. Locate the inventory item and you'll see the transactions attached to it.
  4. You can click each transaction and manually void or delete them.

I'm adding this article about voiding and deleting transactions in QBO so you'll know how it affects your reports: Void or delete an invoice, bill, or other transactions.

You can also customize this report for your convenience. For additional reference, you can check this article on how to customize reports.

Keep in touch if you have any other concerns with inventory and reports. I'm always available to help you out.
