Adding pre-Quickbooks current balance forward to new invoices

Good morning. While I have been using Quickbooks for the past six months, I just started using the invoice feature to invoice my clients. A few of my customers have unpaid balances for services that I delivered before I began using Quickbooks invoicing (I invoiced manually). Is there a way to add their current Balance Forward amount to their next invoice or must I create a new invoice for the balance forward? Thank you.

Adding pre-Quickbooks current balance forward to new invoices

Thank you for joining the Community, ChrisMel. Let me help you manage your customers and their balances in QuickBooks Online.

Have you already set up a profile for your customers in QuickBooks? If not, then you can include their outstanding balance when you create their profile. Simply scroll down to the Opening Balance section when entering the customer information.

Otherwise, if you've already added your clients to QuickBooks, you can create invoices for any unpaid balances. Then, generate a balance forward statement for your customer.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Get paid & pay, then select Customers.
  2. Pick the customer on the list.
  3. Click the dropdown▼ icon in the Action column, then choose Create statement.
  4. From the Statement Type▼ dropdown menu, select Balance Forward.
  5. Enter the Statement Date, Start Date, and End Date.
  6. Hit Save and send or Save and close. If you want to print the statement first, click on Print or Preview.
