Attaching files to estimates

I can attach excel files from my PC but have problems when using my MAC

when I save the excel file on my mac it has the extension .xls but when I try to attach it in the "attachments" window at the bottom of the Estimate screen, it says "for security reasons, we do not allow you to upload this type of file"

What can I do?

Attaching files to estimates

It's great to see you again, @mlbuch.

I'm here to help provide some information about the prompt when attaching a file to estimates.

Are you using QuickBooks Online? If so, at this time, our Product Team is investigating this unusual behavior in QuickBooks and are now working for a fix for this error message.

Let's try checking your extension if there's a space before .<ext>.

For example:

  1. filename .xls
  2. rename above to filename.xls

If the workaround will work or not, please contact our Phone Support Team so they can sign you up to receive email updates as soon as this issue gets resolved. I'll also keep an eye out for updates and provide them as soon as they're made available to me.

However, if you're using QuickBooks Desktop Mac, please let me know so I can find other ways to fix this.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about attaching files to estimates. I'm always here to help.
