Balance Sheet Standard doesn't match Balance Sheet Detail - Some kind of Glitch?

Hello.

Everything has been working fine with Quickbooks 2019 Mac version.  Yesterday, I went to pull up my reports before a meeting with my accountant.  Bizarrely, the Balance Sheet Standard is now including figures for AR and AP from 2012!  These weren't on there last week or anytime since 2012 actually.  I've tried everything - to figure out why they would be appearing and verified and rebuilt data.

The CRAZY thing is that the Balance Sheet DETAIL does not include (even though all the other numbers are exactly the same) and seems to have all of the accurate data so I can certainly just use this, but I would really really like to resolve this glitch.

Anyone have suggestions on resolving so that this particular report can function okay going forward?  (note - all other reports seem to be providing accurate data).

Many thanks for any thoughts on how to resolve this asap.

Balance Sheet Standard doesn't match Balance Sheet Detail - Some kind of Glitch?

Are both reports on the same basis, cash v. accrual?

If you have your reports preference set to cash, that setting impacts a few financial reports.

It will impact the standard Balance Sheet, but not the Balance Sheet Detail, which by default will still be in accrual mode. You can change that when you run it, and then it should have the same totals as the standard/summary Balance Sheet.

Balance Sheet Standard doesn't match Balance Sheet Detail - Some kind of Glitch?

Thanks so so so much!

This had never happened to me before and we'd always been using cash (since it is cash basis), but when I change the report to accrual they both match up and match up with previous years.

I have no idea why this would have shifted - maybe with the more recent update.

In any case, I think ---hope --- this resolves it.

Is there anything else this would affect on these sheets (eg. am I still getting accurate figures for last fiscal year by running the reports accrual?)

Thanks again.  This is so helpful!

QuickBooks has been like this for at least 20 years:  The Cash Basis reporting preference doesn't impact the Balance Sheet Detail report when run from the reports menu. It will always default to accrual. You can change it to cash after you run it and then it will match your cash basis summary Balance Sheet report.
