Bank Reconciliation

I mistakenly entered the date for my February 2022 checking account reconciliation as February 2023. I need to correct it but am unsure of the best way I go about doing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Bank Reconciliation

Hi, thanks for posting here. I'm glad to help you fix the incorrect reconciliation year date in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you haven't completed the reconciliation yet, you can still change the reconciliation ending date by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select the Reconcile tab.
  2. Choose the bank account from the Account drop-down list.
  3. Tap the Resume reconciling button.

  4. From the upper right-hand corner, click the Edit Info button.

  5. Change the reconciliation year date from there.

  6. Click Save.

However, if you've already finished reconciling, you'll need to undo the entire reconciliation and correct the year date. The Undo option is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant. I'd recommend inviting your accountant to your company and letting them undo the reconciliation period at once.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Manage users.
  2. Click the Accountants tab.
  3. Enter the accountant's email and hit the Invite button.
  4. Save it once done.

Once invited, have your accountant undo the entire reconciliation.

Otherwise, you'll need to undo the reconciled transactions one at a time so you can change the date. You can use this article for reference: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

I've also included our reconciliation guide for reference. It will help you ensure your QuickBooks accounts match your real-life bank statements.
