Best method of showing company health

We have a potential investor who wants to view our financials. What is the best method for providing this information and what type of information should be included?

Best method of showing company health

Banks usually want not on Balance Sheet but also EBITDA, meaning earnings before interest, taxes (corporate net not property), depreciation, amortization.

QB does not provide a EBITDA report, you have to filter to get it

Thank you. This is from a private investor and not a bank. For this reason, is there another report to show?

Hi there, @MGF

Thank you for posting in the QuickBooks Community. Let me share some additional information about generating the EBITDA report.

@john-pero is correct. Currently, the option to generate an EBITDA report is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. In the meantime, you can customize the Profit and Loss Detail report to show the income and expense transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Click on Reports at the left pane.
  2. Look for Profit and Loss Detail.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Select Filter.
  5. You can either select All Income AccountsAll Income Accounts, or All Income/Expense Accounts. (choose your desired customization)
  6. Click Run Report.

You can also run the Profit and Loss report to see the details, please check this article for further customization: Customize your Profit and Loss report.

Information may be abridged and therefore incomplete. Please contact your financial or legal advisors for information specific to your situation.

I've added an article for your reference: What Is EBITDA and How Can Your Company Use It?

Also, I'd encourage you to send your feedback and other product suggestions to our engineers. Just go to the Gear icon and click Feedback. This will help us improve our products and services based on the comments submitted by users like you.

That's should do it. Feel free to drop a comment below if you have any other questions about reports in QuickBooks Online. I'll be happy to help you out.

One single report is not enough to show your current position as well as change from before. So you need a comparison balance sheet today and 12 months ago. YTD P&L compared to same period last year, Trailing 12 months by month is another report investors may want to see as it can point out trends.
