Blank Invoice/Packing Slips?

I am sending product samples to a sales rep at no cost. We use QB Premier Desktop 2016. I created a Sales Order with no cost for the products, created an invoice so everything matches in the system and the items come off our stock list. The items show on the screen, whether I'm in the invoice or the packing list.

 

But when I print either the invoice or the packing slip - both custom templates - the template prints but there are no items listed on either. Note - when it's a regular order with prices, there are no issues. Only for when we are sending things at no cost (i.e. samples, replacements, etc.).

 

Has anyone run into this before and, if so, does anyone know the fix so that the items print on the invoice and/or packing list?

Go to Edit menu > Preferences, to the Sales & Customers on the left, then the Company Preferences tab on the right.

 

You control if 0 items print or not, right there. Please see my attachment.

I'm here to share some insights about printing a sales order and invoice with no cost.

 

You can go to the Preferences tab and uncheck the Don't print items with zero amounts when converting to Invoice button. This will allow you to print the items that have no cost on a printed invoice.

 

Here's how:

  1. Click the Edit menu at the top, then choose Preferences.
  2. Select Sales & Customers, then choose Company Preferences.
  3. Remove the check-mark for Don't print items with zero amounts when converting to Invoice.
  4. Select the template for your Packing Slip.
  5. Click OK.

Unfortunately, when I open the sales order and click on the arrow below the "Print" button and select "Packing List," it still prints the sales order.

 

Not sure if that's a glitch or something that has to do with the way QB was setup on our end initially.

I do not find in QB 2019 the choice to print invoices with zero rate value. I am able to print an invoice but no description is in place nor the quantity as it should be.

Found it under Preferences/Jobs & Estimates. Just needed to find the check box to be able to print invoices, etc. with zero values.
