Budget Overview Report - classes vs months - values are negative

Can anyone tell me why the values turn negative when the Budget Overview report is customized for Classes vs. Months? And how to change this so that they are positive? It only seems to happen when the Classes vs. Months option is selected. Thanks!

Budget Overview Report - classes vs months - values are negative

Hello and welcome to the Community, VFAKathy.

It will be my pleasure to help you change the values of the amount showing on the Budget Overview report.

The data showing in the report is dependent on the amounts you enter on the budget. We can correct them by editing the information entered on the QuickBooks system.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Below Tools, select Budgeting.
  3. Choose a budget.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow below the Action column.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Click the drop-down arrow next to Show rows as and click Classes.
  7. Correct the amounts.
  8. Click Save.

I'm adding an article below for more information about editing existing budgets (scroll down to Edit, copy or delete existing budgets):

Budget Overview Report - classes vs months - values are negative

Hi - Thanks for this, but it does not answer the question. I think it happens because the P&L by class does not have hash mark breakdowns and so revenue has to show as positive and expenses as negative? I do understand how to modify the budget in the "Budgeting" "gear" section.

Do you have with you a screenshot of this Budget Overview by Class vs. Months report? Is it okay to attach it on this thread so we can isolate the issue?
