Can i add a subtotal in an estimate?

Has anyone added a subtotal in an estimate to total detail above, where the subtotal doesn't get added to the final amount?

Can i add a subtotal in an estimate?

QBO does not have a sub total item, nor can you enter a non totaling item

Can i add a subtotal in an estimate?

thank you. A bit frustrating as we sometimes like to show totals for sub-parts of a job. I also like to add descriptions that don't always have amounts connected to them.

Yes, you can add a subtotal in an estimate, @Penny923.

We use this as a line item in QuickBooks Online to total a group of products, discounts, and services amount. Let me share with you the steps and a specific screenshot that shows an item combined with a discount which then I included a Subtotal:

  1. Click the +New.
  2. Select Estimate.
  3. Enter all the necessary details on the estimate like the customer name, products, discounts, and services.
  4. Click the Add Subtotal button.
  5. Select Save and close.

However, since you're looking at the different side of a subtotal where it doesn't get added to the final amount, I recommend sending feedback. You can also include your suggestion about adding descriptions about a specific amount covered on a subtotal.

This way, we can boost your QuickBooks experience once by chance, the feature you're suggesting for, is added in the future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon on the top right.
  2. Select Feedback under Profile.
  3. Enter your feature suggestion.
  4. Click Next to submit.

You may want to personalize your sales forms by adding more details and fields, take a look at this article for more information: Customize your sales forms in QuickBooks Online.
