Can I apply a previous payment to existing invoice?

Yes, you can apply a previous payment to an existing invoice, mellison.

We can go to the Receive Payment page apply the payment to an invoice. This way, we link the payment to the outstanding invoice transaction.

Here's how:

  1. Click the + New button.
  2. Select Receive Payment.
  3. Choose the name of the customer from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select the transactions from the Outstanding Transactions section. The payment total will change when selecting the invoice.
  5. Choose the payment method.
  6. You can either deposit the money to your checking account or to the Undeposited funds account.
  7. Hit Save and close.

For more details about recording invoice payments, check out this article: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

If this is a deposit, you can follow the detailed in this article to link it to your invoice: How to link a deposit to an invoice.
