Hello there, @decoracrete,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention here in the Community.
This time, you can only customize sales forms, such as invoice, sales receipt and estimate, in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
While the option to change the format of your purchase order (PO) is unavailable, I'd recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. We value your suggestions. This way, it helps our engineers determine what features to be added in QBO future enhancements, like customizing your PO forms.
Here are the steps to submit feedback within QBO:
You can visit this website to track your submitted feature requests through this link: https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/forums/168199.
If there's anything else I can do for you, don't hesitate to leave a comment below. I'm always here to help, @decoracrete. Have a nice day!
I vote for this feature to be added. The description in my PO's wrap b/c the column filed is too narrow and there is a lot of wasted space elsewhere. Sorry, it looks amateur. Do I need to upgrade my QB to improve this or is it coming soon *crossing fingers yes*?
Thanks for joining this conversation, @StephStu.
I appreciate your feedback regarding the format of a purchase order in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I can see how having this additional option and functionality would be helpful for you and your business. The updates and changes that we implement are largely the results of the suggestions provided by users, just like yourself. That said, I'm making it my top priority that your feedback reaches our Product Development Team.
While we don't have a timeline for when this will be available, you can check out our blog site. This is the place where we share information if there's a feature update.
Please feel free to post again or leave a comment should you need anything else. I'll be happy to help. Take care always.
This is really frustrating.. i am for this feature for too long now... i believe this is a basic feature and should be available.. i am desperate switch from offline to online but this issue stopping me badly. It will be disaster if i shift now without this feature... anyone know if xero has this feature ?
I know that you've been longing for this feature, Mithun portonics.
While it's not available at the moment, I suggest finding third-party apps that offer an editable Purchase Order template.
You'll want to click the Apps menu on the left navigation bar. Then, you can click on the Browser category drop-down list, and use filters to narrow down your search.
You can always drop by when you need help about QuickBooks.
I would like to see the ability to customize the Purchase Orders also...
It seems like it would make sense to customize them like we can customize the Estimates, Invoices, and Sales Receipts. I want the ability to customize the name of the form (some of my clients want to call it "Purchase Voucher" or something like "Payment Voucher"), I want the ability to customize the column width, etc.
Can you add this to your roadmap for QBO?
Hi there, calebljenkins.
Thanks for joining this thread and for sharing your insights on how you would like to expand the customization option to Purchase Order templates in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
It's true enough that being able to customize Purchase Order template is beneficial not just for you but to all other users wanting to have the same option. That said, I'll make sure to raise this idea to our product developers so they may consider adding this option to our future product updates.
For now, I encourage you to visit our QuickBooks Blog. From there, we share recent happenings and future developments and the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on.
Should there'll be anything else you need or questions about customizing templates in QBO, never hesitate to let me know. I'm always up to help.
It would be a great help to be able to change the format to allow alternative labels. For example, I would like to change "purchase order" to "payment voucher" or other labels.
Yeah, it's great when users can add flavors to the purchase order form, John Gooch.
I'll let our product engineers know about your suggestion. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to share them in the Community.
Suggestions make us aware of the things you need for your business. Most of the changes we had were based on suggestions. One example is progress invoicing in QBO.
I'm just around if you have questions.
Desperately needs to be done. Just changed from Zoho to Qb (because my accountant prefers it) and I am shocked by the poor format of the Purchase Order. Very amateurish. POs nee dto be customizable...now!!
How can a SKU be visible on the PO when printed?
I do not understand the purpose of the SKU field if it does not show or does not give us option to have it added to the purchase order.
There's no option to add the SKU field when the purchase order is printed. Printing with the SKU field is available on the invoice. This is a good suggestion that I can forward to our product engineers. They might consider adding the SKU when printing the PO form.
As a workaround, you can add the SKU in the Your message to vendor box below. This way, the SKU will be able to show when printing the form.
I've added a sample screenshot below:
Please let me know if you have additional questions or suggestions with QuickBooks Online.
Thanks for your reply @Charies_M!
I really appreciate you taking this feedback to the Engineering team. This would be incredibly helpful for a few of my clients. If you need more insight, I would be happy to have a conversation with you to show you what changes I am requesting to the Purchase Order form.
Hello, when an order has many SKUs we can't simply add all SKUs in the message box. Please allow SKUs to be added to the PO template. Vendors do not look at descriptions, they look at SKUs..Sending a PO without an SKU is useless..Please include this feature in a new release.
It's nice to see your post here in the Community, EricResato.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) allows you to enter multiple SKUs in the vendor message box.
Did you encounter an error while entering all the SKUs? If so, we can try a few troubleshooting steps to isolate this.
First, let's use an incognito or private browser when logging in to your account to know if it's the browser that's causing this issue. You can use either of the following shortcut keys:
I'm always here to help with your QuickBooks needs moving forward. Have a great day ahead!
Good day, John.
Customizing forms is only available for sales forms such as invoice, estimates, and sales receipts. Changing the name of the PO and other vendor-related transactions are currently unavailable.
I see that the my colleague who answered your original question has already sent a request about this to our engineers. I'm sending another one about being to able to customize Purchase Orders in QBO.
Visit us again if you have other questions.
Just get it done. My item descriptions are long. the Description width is so narrow, a few lines fills a page. ridiculous when printing it out. pages and pages.... look awful.
it's a requirement.. not optional. must be able to adjust column widths.
Hard to believe QB didn't think it necessary.
Get it done ASAP.
I'm dealing with the same issue, very frustrating! The older versions of QB would allow you to format this to your needs. Please fix ASAP, using an excel document to send PO's is ridiculous.
I'm here to give updates, ArtofZen.
I know this something that you need and we're always open for feedback. I'll surely send another request so that the ability to customize purchase order form will be available.
You'll want to visit our QuickBooks Blog. All our innovations and product updates will be posted there.
I'll be around if you need further assistance.
