Yes, it's possible that your client changes their payment method. Here are the other possible reasons why their payments didn't go through:
Also, paying the invoice using a foreign bank is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. Currently, Merchant Services only accept payments from US banks. I'd suggest contacting Payments Support so we can securely check on why your clients were unable to pay their invoices online. A specialist can look up your account and provide alternatives.

In the meantime, I recommend looking for a 3rd-party app that can integrate with QuickBooks and allow your customer to pay through online using an international bank. To do this, you'll need to go to the Apps inside QBO.
