Can you add customer specific pricing on a service? Each customer is on different pricing and entering each one is time consuming.

On weekly service clients can I set a price specific to each customer? Service is "Weekly Lawn Cut" - each invoice I have to manually enter their pricing - it would be nice to set the price before and just select the service and bill. Thanks.

Hello, info1114.

It's definitely time consuming to manually enter the pricing every time you create a sale. You can save time by using the Price rules feature. I'll show you how to turn it on and use it.

Note: This feature is only available in the Plus or Advanced version.

First, let's turn the feature on by going to the Account and settings:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then choose Account and settings.
  2. Go to Sales.
  3. Expand the Products and Services section.
  4. Toggle the Price rules feature to on.
  5. Click Save then Done

  2. Select the Prices Rules option.
  3. Click the New price rule button.
  4. Set a rule name.

Thank you for joining the thread, @Momo5.

I'm here to make sure you can set price rules in QuickBooks Online, there's a beta feature for price rules. It lets you assign various products and services to different customer types. You'll have to turn on this feature in the company settings.

To start, let's turn on the price rules in the Account and Settings. I'll guide you on how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Sales tab.
  3. In the Products and Services section, click the pencil icon.
  4. Click the button beside Turn on price rules Beta.
  5. Select Save and then Done.

Once done, we can now create price rules for your customers.

There are several ways you can customize price rules, and we've listed them in this article: Set Price Rules in QuickBooks Online.

To manage your company settings, you can check the articles below:

Good morning, Momo5.

Thanks for following up on this thread.

Just to make sure, were you able to give the steps mentioned above a try? You should be able to see the price rules (beta) option in your QuickBooks Plus account. Here's a visual of what it will look like:

Make sure the toggle is turned on (green) and then choose Save when you're finished.

Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you still don't see it or if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help.

Hi Morgan,

As you can see from the attached screen shot for our account...I cannot see the link for price rules (beta) option...

Are there any differences for the international version of Quickbooks online?....

Hi Momo5!

Thanks for the update. Let me further assist you with the price rules.

Yes, some features aren't available yet on the international version of QuickBooks Online and one of those is the price rule which is still in beta. Currently, this is only offered in the QuickBooks Online US version and needs to be in the Plus or Advanced plan.

What I can suggest is to use a third-party application that has a similar feature. Visit the Apps menu and search from there.

I also added this link: Set up and track your inventory in QuickBooks Online. This can help you in setting up and tracking your products in QuickBooks Online.

Keep on posting here if you need more assistance. Take care!

Hello,

I love the price rules.  Thank you!!!

I see the way to make them "Inactive".  Is there a way to permanently delete them?  That would be nice too...

Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark!

Let me assist you and share some details about price rules.

I also love the pricing rule as it allows us to control the price of the products and services. Yes, you can make it inactive but currently, we're unable to permanently delete them.

You'll want to send feedback about this to our engineers. Let them know that you need to delete a price rule. Simply go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.

Seriously annoying this isn't available to UK customers. I'm willing to pay to upgrade to the more advanced version, but it's not even available. Why exclude an entire country from using such a useful feature which already exists!??!

I hear your sentiments, @JohnnyDMonic.

I understand how the price rule feature can help you run your business more smoothly.

In the meantime, you'll want to manually apply a discount to your invoice. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and settings.
  2. Select the Sales tab.
  3. In the Sales form content section, select the pencil icon.
  4. Turn on the Discount setting.
  5. Click Save and then Done.

To add the discount to your invoice:

  1. Go to the + New.
  2. Select Invoice, Estimate, or Sales receipt.
  3. Add your products or services in the Product/Service column. Then fill out the rest of the sales form.
  4. To record a discount, select Discount percent to enter the discount as a percentage. Or select Discount value to enter the discount as a specific amount.
  5. Enter the percentage or amount you want to discount in the discount field.
  6. When you're finished, select Save and send or Save and close.

You can also refer to this article for more details: Add a discount to an invoice or sales receipt in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can also utilize a third-party app that lets you set price rules for your customer. Simply hover to the Apps menu inside your QBO and look for an app from there.

I'd also recommend sending your feedback to our Development team. They will review your suggestion and may consider including it in the next update.

Once you're ready, I've included an article that will help you manage your customer payments easily: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further questions about your invoices or QBO, please let me know. I'll be there to help you. Take care!

Can you add customer specific pricing on a service? Each customer is on different pricing and entering each one is time consuming.

I appreciate you for joining this thread and letting us know your concern about setting price rules for specific customers in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Arma1985.

In QuickBooks, you can manage the cost of your products and services through pricing rules. You can present price reductions or charge varying fees per item. Additionally, you have the option to charge different rates. Given that the option is available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced. The application also has an option to assign this specifically to a customer.

In your case, we can perform a troubleshooting that helps fix the issue. Doing so will eliminate unusual behavior within the product.

To start, we can access your company file using a private window. The private window is a helpful tool for troubleshooting browser-related difficulties as it won't preserve any history. The following are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

After that, create the price rule in this setup and assign it to a specific customer. Once done, let’s give your browser a fresh start by clearing the cache or cookies to prevent this from happening again. If not, using one of the supported browsers can also be a smart choice.

Furthermore, you can refer to this article to create an invoice to add items you sell to your customers. Afterward, you can record its payments to keep your records accurate:
