Currently, the ability to add size and color to a product detail for the inventory is unavailable. QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have a Unit of Measure feature that helps to manage inventory items with different units.
If you have already an inventory item, you can edit it and add the size and color on the description section. Let me guide you how:
To learn about editing items, please click this article: Set up categories in Products and Services.
Also, you can run inventory-related reports in QBO. Simply go to the Reports menu, and then refer to the Sales and customers section.
Please feel free to add a comment below if you have any other questions about inventory, I'll be always here to help you. Stay safe and take care always!
Consider having an additional app with the matrix inventory feature to integrate with QBO.
I have two items with the same description but different sizes and different part numbers...for example.
28W42 2" Shear Pin
28W31 2-1/2" Shear Pin
Is there a way that I can enter these in without editing them. You cannot keep up with the inventory... It's hard to remember when you have over 200 plus items.
Thanks for chiming in, @talkandfinish_12. Allow me to step in and help provide some additional information about the Product/Service item in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
As I mentioned above, once you already have an inventory item, you can edit it and add the size to the description since QuikcBooks doesn't have a unit of measure feature. While the feature you need isn't available, please send feedback to our product developer to let them know you'd like this added. QuickBooks Online is a constantly evolving platform, and the voice of users like yourself helps steer the changes.
