Cash app and Pay pal Tithing Transfers

Hi there, I have been appointed an interm financial person for our ministry. As I look at the current QBO account it appears that this was all set up incorrectly. I am trying to go forward and correct as I go. Right now, we collect tithing in 3 ways, through a text 2 give platform, pay pal and cash app. It appears that these are being transferred in to our main bank account. They are being categorized all different ways, transfers, sales even uncategorized income. What is the proper way to categorize these tithings and do I have to seperate each donation or can I keep them in a lump tithe?  The church platform we are using keeps track of those donations and has the ablitiy to send out donation letters, however, cash app and pay pal does not. I would appreciate any advise you an give. Thank you!

Cash app and Pay pal Tithing Transfers

Hi there, @yalonso74.

You can record church tithes and offerings in QuickBooks. First, you'll have to create a donor by following these steps:

  1. On the left panel click Sales, and click the Donors tab.
  2. Click the New donor button.
  3. Enter the donor's information, and click Save.

Then, the next step is to create items for the tithes and offerings.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Under List, click Products and Services.
  3. Click the New button, and select the Type.
  4. Enter the information, and click Save and Close

Note: For setting up an account when creating the items, please reach out to your accountant. This is to make sure your reports are accurate.

Finally, you can start recording transactions to your donors by going to the Plus icon and selecting the transactions under Donors.
