When you create a company, QuickBooks Online creates specific accounts by default. Other special accounts are created when certain features are turned on in the settings.
The accounts that you've mentioned are default accounts in QBO. Even you have the option to hide these accounts, QBO automatically recreates them and currently doesn't have the option to permanently remove these accounts.
Please check this article to see which default or special account can be deleted, edited, or merged in QBO: Manage default and special accounts in your chart of accounts.
Don't hesitate to ask again with any concerns related with QuickBooks. I'm always here to help you.
I have had my QB account for 9 months. These Chart Accounts appeared in December. I have deactivated them many times and they reactivate.
I want them to be invisible. BTW...in QB Online you cannot delete accounts, only deactivate them.
Hello there, BeyondTheBox. It's nice to hear from you again.
There are some default accounts in your book that cannot be deactivated. The Inventory Asset, Billable Expense Income, Sales of Product Income and Cost of Goods Sold are one of the default accounts. There isn't a way to remove them from the account lists.
And yes, you're right that we can only make the account deactivate instead of deleting them. You'll want to check the articles below for more information about the Chart of Accounts in your book:

This is just not true.
These accounts have been deactivated for months (hidden) then they suddenly reappear. That is the issue I am trying to resolve.
Why were they gone the suddenly back. Did you fix a bug? Did you create a bug?
Can I rename them?
Can I assign them a number?
I understand the need for defaults so where is the guidance on what I can and cannot do with them?
Let's investigate why the deactivated accounts are re-appearing in your Online account, BeyondTheBox.
I've checked here on our end and there's no reported case or ongoing investigation about this one. To better isolate this issue, let's try using the Audit log feature to determine if other users in your account making it. Then, go to the Audit History to trace if someone made the changes and when it was made in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Here's how:
If it is now showing in the Audit Log page, then it would be best to contact our Customer Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue.
Here's how:

I am the only user. I did not make them.
Why are all the answers looking to blame me for this issue. The accounts were not there and then they appeared in December. I deactivate them and the service turns them on. I get they are defaults, but their re-appearance out of the blue is concerning. This is not the first time I have encountered an issue where it was the QB software and not the user.
