Join nowI noticed that when I send an invoice, the email's contact info in the footer is not detected properly by Apple mail (at least I think that's what's happening).
There appear to be links for phone and email; and the website link stops after the protocol prefix (https://). Not sure if the latter is a separate issue.
When I hover over this contact info and click on it, it is treated as one large email link rather than separate links.
Any advice here? If this isn't user error, can this be submitted to developers for improvement?
Hello there, @pjackson.
Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community and for sharing a screenshot of the issue you're getting when sending an invoice to an Apple mail. I'm here to help sort this out.
We haven't received any reported cases similar to what you've encountered, but I know a workaround that can help fix this issue. Try to toggle your company website by deleting and re-entering it on your Company Settings. Here's how:
1. Click the Gear icon at the top, then pick Account and Settings under Your Company.
2. Choose Company on the left pane, then go to Contact Info.
3. On the Website field, delete then re-enter your company website (remove any extra letters and spacing).
4. Select Save, then Done.
Once done, try to create and send an invoice, then double-check the contact info in the footer. If the issue persists, let's perform clear cache to remove temporary internet files on your computer. Your browser's settings or old cache might have caused this unexpected behavior while using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The steps to do this will differ depending on which browser you’re using. You may check out this article for further guidance: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?
Give this a try and let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I want to make sure this is fix. I'm only a post away should you have any follow up questions. Take care and have a good one!
Hi @FritzF, thank you for your advice!
I tried re-entering all the contact fields, but I'm still seeing the entire bottom line of contact info being linked as an email by Apple mail client.
To be clear, when I view the email in the Google mail (web-based) client, all links appear as expected, and are linked as expected.
When I entered the fields exactly as they were before, I saw the exact same results.
I tried removing the protocol (https://) part of the web address, and the remaining part was marked up as a URL (see attached). I prefer to keep the protocol, though.
Hello there, @pjackson.
I'm here to provide other steps we can perform to fix your emailed invoice contact information.
You can use an incognito browser or a new private window in updating email's contact info. The web browser keeps files in its cache and saves the pages you have previously visited, and sometimes the stored files can affect communication between the browser and QuickBooks Online. You can follow the shortcut key command below to start private browsing.
a. For Chrome press Ctrl+Shift+N.
b. For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl+Shift+P.
c. For Safari, hold down Command+Shift+N.
If the same thing happens, then this isn't an issue on the browser but on the mail client. To get a more in-depth look, I suggest reaching out to our phone support agents to use the screen sharing tool.
Keep me posted on how it goes or if you need anything else. You can do so by adding a comment below. Wishing you and your business continued success.
