Join nowOur treasurer is going to do our accounting in house as the outside accountant was too expensive. He will be using Quickbooks Pro 2018. Should our current accountant (uses Accountant Desktop) just give us a backup to make the change?

NO
Do NOT have the accountant send an accountants copy, that is NOT the full file.
YES, have the accountant give you a current back up file, it will open in pro with no problems, pro and premier use the same data base.
And if you accountant uses the attachment feature for bills, etc, then have him send you the attachement folder structure with all attachments in it. Those are NOT included in a back up.
Hi there, JoMichal,
I'm here to help converting the file from QuickBooks Desktop Accountant to QuickBooks Pro.
You can have the current accountant send you an accountant's copy, then convert it to a regular file in QuickBooks Pro 2018. You can provide this link to your accountant for the steps: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1501995
Then, you can convert the file by following these steps:

If you have additional questions about the steps to converting the file, let me know.

JoMichal, Rustler is absolutley correct, you want nothing to do with an "accountants copy." You want a QBB backup file or the QBW working file. I use both Desktop Premier Accountant edition and regular Premier. Both versions open the same file with no issues. Cheers!
