Hi all!
We manufacture goods. We record our transactions through build assemblies. Labor and material are built in the build assembly. Sometimes the labor rate may change or the cost of the raw material may change. Sometimes we make different quantities of the item and this also affects the costs.
Is there a report where I can look at the cost history of the item?

I don't see how @DivinaMercy_N's reply relates to your question.
From the Assembly Build run the Transaction History report.
It shows all the related costs building up the assembly cost.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi there, @jroneill. I'll be here to guide you in running report to see the history of your item costs in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
In QBDT, the specific report to see the cost history of items is unavailable. As a workaround, you can run an Audit Trail report to view the changes made to your items in QBDT. Here's how:
For reference in modifying the report's details, check out this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
While the report you need is unavailable, you can send feedback to our product developers to request the addition of this feature. Our developers often study the comments in this forum to determine which functions are most desired by users. Let me guide you on how:

Thank you for your answer.
I think I found almost what I am looking for. I have a report that shows the transaction for the build assembly with the total cost and the qty made. I can export to excel to do a $/unit and then give me a different costs and different quantities.
I don't hate quickbooks, but I do strongly dislike how much it relies on other applications to finish what should be fairly simple reports or processes.
