Customer Statements

OK, here's a new thing that is driving me crazy.  I have a client who has accepted down-payments prior to invoice creation.  Of course with her small business being a CASH based business this creates a whole host of trouble in QbO with having to back-date invoices to accommodate those down-payments and avoid the completely unhelpful Unapplied Cash Payments line on a P&L...

Now I see that running a statement for clients never shows overpayments or a credit balance when overpayments have been recorded.

I have a customer of my client who has a credit balance, almost $3,000 and when I run a statement there is no indication of a credit balance.  WTH???

PLEASE, make statements more reflective of reality.  There should be an Open Balance column and when an overpayment is made it should be seen.

So, I'm currently in a frustrating Chat w/Intuit and apparently the style of statement in Safari (which is MY go-to) is completely different than what it looks like in Chrome!

This reeks of false advertising as this now feels like the program is browser dependent!  That means I cannot use this program on different computers/browsers and get the same results.

Statements should be a standard, simple document to create.  WTH is the performance browser dependent???

I wish I could make it better, @HandiChickNW.

Thank you for sharing your discovery with how your customer's statement is displayed based on the browser you're logged in. With this, I'd recommend letting our product developers know about it by send feedback.

This way, they'll be able to determine how to improve the data display of your customer's statement. You can let them know by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter a few words describing your request.
  4. Click Next.

Feedback already provided ~ not that I have any feeling that it will make a difference at all.  I have found the most important needs of us, the lowly Bookkeepers, are rarely given any attention.

Apparently the feedback of CPAs, who apparently never really use the program, in the weeds as we must, are the only ones that matter based on how much control has been taken away from us and buried in the dim unreachable areas of the program.

Customer Statements

Is anyone having issue with prior customer Statement showing up blank when  the invoices are paid a month after the statement date?   I am using the the open balance format and just paid off invoices that were showing on four previous statement and open.   This needs to be fixed if we need to go back and defend a finance change,.  Once a statement has been send to the customer and saved in the customer file online it should not be effective once a payment is received.  all of the statement below had balance when they were printed payments were made after each payment date.  when I looked back on the statement to see what was send to customer they were all blank.

Customer Statements

Welcome to the Community, @Sheri28.

Customer statements will eventually change when you make an update of the transactions. A paid invoice will automatically go from the customer statement open items. When all invoices are paid, it will also empty the customer statement.

You can check this article to learn more about customer statements: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.

I understand how you want to see previous customer statements in your account. This feature is still not available in QuickBooks Online. To add this, you need to submit a request. Our developer team will decide to add it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select the type of feedback in the box.
  3. Click the Next button to submit.

Once done, you may track the status of your summited feedback on our QuickBooks Online Features Requests page.

I'm also adding this article that you can read and refer to in running reports: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
