customizing P & L reports

I have the Essentials version & do not have the option in the drop down menu of columns to filter by class.

customizing P & L reports

How are you doing, Terry192?

The option to filter the Profit and Loss report by class is applicable in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced.  That said, we're unable to do it in essentials since the class feature is available on the other QuickBooks plan.

You may want to upgrade to use this feature and be able to customize the report by class. In case you want to upgrade your plan, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Click Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. Select the Billing & Subscription menu.
  4. In the QuickBooks Online section, select Upgrade your plan.
  5. Choose plan you want, it's either Plus and Advanced.
  6. Confirm your payment information and then, click Save.

You can visit here to compare each QuickBooks plan features.

Get back to me if you have other questions with the Profit and Loss report. I'm always ready to help you figure them out! Take care.

Is it possible for quickbooks to produce a P&L report that looks like this?

customizing P & L reports

Hello there, Dan.

Currently, the ability to customize Profit and Loss reports with its YTD Budget, annual, over and percentage of the budget is unavailable. However, we can export this report in an excel file and merge those data from there. I can see how relevant these details are for you and other users to see their difference when running the report.

Thus, I can guide you in exporting the profit and loss report to an excel file. Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports from the left menu bar.
  2. Enter the specific profit and loss report you'd want to export.
  3. At the top of the report, select the Export icon and click Export to Excel.
  4. Save the exported file.

Moreover, you can check out this article to guide you further when customizing reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to add a reply below if you have additional questions running reports in QuickBooks Online. We'd gladly help you anytime. Keep safe and have a good one!
