Desktop version with an app

Today our CPA told us to dump QB Online and go to just plain desktop.  We have already been through desktop enterprise which I liked but hated the host wrights network.  The Online version has created duplicates, taken parts of already reconciled accounts out (missing) and could not readily be adjusted so going to a desktop is ok but we still have the problem of me working remotely.  The CPA suggested desktop with an app so I can enter the desktop from my workplace in Arkansas to his office in California.  Frankly, I'm skeptical.  I'm wondering if anyone has used this app before and if there are problems.  I was thinking of just buying desktop here in Arkansas and he has desktop in California and once a week I send my data over to him to put into his database?  To me this sounds reasonable.  I don't know if it can be done.  I know we can send the data to the CPA but can I just send the updated data to him every week and he can "seamlessly" merge it into his desktop?  anyone know???

Re: Desktop version with an app

hi Caroleann ,

Welcome to the club! Most of our client prefer hosting their QBW files locally. You have two options:

1. If you only need up to 2 users to remote your files, you may consider using Splashtop.

https://www.splashtop.com/business?ref=r224

2. If you need more than 2 users working on the same file by internet and LAN, you may consider to deploy a private cloud. There is a service provided by a UK-based company and suit for non IT-backgroud to setup/manage. The cost is $25/month/connection to your own host. PM me for details.

Re: Desktop version with an app

Thank you for giving me some options.  We are still deciding which version to go with but it won't be the online version since we and our CPA feel there are just too many glitches that need work before it's a useable option.  I do the books remotely because I am a family member and have had extensive experience in accounting but not QuickBooks.  Since this is a small, family-based business the option to choose a family member to do the books was a good option.  The CPA suggested Enterprise and personally, I like that version but just had a few problems with working in the Right's Cloud so perhaps a private cloud or an app to work remotely on a desktop is in order.  We are, BTW, in the US and not the UK.  Thank you again for your suggestion
