Hi mariposa,

I'm glad you reached out to us today! I'd love to share with you the difference of QuickBooks Self-Employed and Simple Start.

The main difference between both programs is that QuickBooks Self-Employed is designed for Independent Contractors, while Simple Start is for Small Businesses.

QBSE let's you track miles, your income & expense, record invoices and accept payments, and run reports. Simple Start provides the same features with the help of some third party apps also, and allows you to create estimates and send them to your customers.

For more details about their comparison, I recommend you visit our website. It has in-depth information about the features and pricing of each program.

If you have additional questions about these programs, feel free to reach out to me again.

Can you track mileage with simple start without a 3rd party app?  I have already started with self employed but think the simple start may be a better option.  Is it possible to switch?

Does not appear that you can add more than 1 accountant or 1 user. Appears only total of 2 people including accountant can access. Also does not support class tracking or double entry accounting... ie no balance sheet report  available.

I guess you can't do journal entries or see a balance sheet with self employed. (I'm not sure about SS but I know you can't on SE). Ok so I say that one receipt of funds is business, not personal, because it is, but it is not all income duh. It's called a liability. It's called a refundable security deposit. And I guess you can't upgrade to the better plan from SE so I have to start all over. Thanks QB
