Join nowHello All,
I've been doing the books for my company since June. However, prior to me starting, nobody had ever reconciled anything or even closed out a month or year since 2016. So many things are coded wrong and it is affecting all of my financials. My question is, is it ever okay to just start a new company file so I can just start fresh come Jan. 1st?
Thanks,
Sara

Hello, Hollidaypools.
I'd be happy to assist you with creating a new company file from your existing company file in QuickBooks Desktop. We can export and import the data.
All the lists, transactions, templates, and preferences in the existing company file will move over. You can refer to this article on how to create a new company file. Start a new company file with data from your existing file.
In case you encounter an error when creating a new company file from the existing company file, you can refer to this article for troubleshooting steps: Create new company files from existing ones in QuickBooks Desktop.
That's it. If you need further assistance with the steps, please click the reply button. I'll be happy to help you. Stay safe!
