Thank you for taking the time to seek out our help, @cmaddox.

Is your Progress Invoicing feature turned on? If so, that's the reason why you can't change the quantity of the items when converting estimates to invoices. You can either turn it off or edit the quantity on the estimate. This way, the system will allow you to change the item details when making invoices.

Here's how to turn off the progress invoicing:

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Select Sales from the left menu.
  4. Choose Progress Invoicing.
  5. In the Progress Invoicing section, select the edit (pencil) icon.
  6. To disable Progress Invoicing, remove the check mark under Create multiple partial invoices from a single estimate box.
  7. Select Save.
  8. Click Done.

Let me know if I can help with anything else with invoicing or within QuickBooks Online. Take care!

The above did not work. We would up-sell or change items.  This would be during the process before invoice is closed.

Hi there, @cmaddox. Editing an open invoice can be done with ease.

You have to find and open the invoice. Then, make the necessary changes.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and select Invoices.
  2. Look for the invoice.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow under the Action column and select View/Edit.
  4. Add the additional products and services and other necessary info.
  5. Click Save and close.
  6. Click Yes to confirm.

You can also pull up the Open Invoices report to see the list of outstanding invoices.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Search for "Open Invoices" and select it.
  3. Modify the reporting period.
  4. Click Run report.

Additionally, you can review open invoices from the All Sales tab. Then, send payment reminders and balance forward statements in QuickBooks Online.

Be sure to come back if you need more help with updating your invoices. I'm always around to help.
