Duplicate account from bank feed: How do I merge the two accounts? Error Message: You cannon merge.. both contain online information

When importing transactions from my bank a message popped up and asked if the import was for an existing account.  I selected yes, and the only account that was displayed in the window.  The import created an additional account instead of adding to my existing.  Now I have two accounts and I'm not able to merge.  The error message when I try to merge states: "You cannot merge two accounts which both contain online information."

Make sure there are no Pending transactions in the Bankin...

Make sure there are no Pending transactions in the Banking Feeds Center for either account; you can "ignore and delete" them. Then, edit each account and Deactivate the online services. Then you can Merge them. Then, set up Online access again.

What do you mean by "edit" the accounts. Some transactions re in both accounts -- do I need to delete all the duplicates?

Let me provide you the steps on how to edit the accounts, icelandadventure.

 

As mentioned by @qbteachmt, make sure that there are no pending transactions in the Banking Feeds.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking, then choose Bank Feeds Center.
  2. Click Transaction List.

If the transaction needs to be deleted, you can delete it, but if it needs to be added make sure to add it to your register because you can't re-download it.

 

Once done, we need to deactivate the other account because we can't merge an account if both accounts are active.

 

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Company, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click on either Checking or Savings account.
  3. Then right click, and select Bank Feeds Settings.
  4. Click the radio button Deactivate All Online Services.
  5. Click Save and Close.
