eBay and managed payments for purchases

I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

For about the last 10 years, I have used QBO, along with the "Sync from Paypal" app, to track my business purchases from eBay.

When eBay introduced their "managed payments" program, they stopped sending detailed data to PayPal. Prior to that, the payment would include a line for each item purchased, a line for postage, and a line for sales tax paid. It would also include the vendor from whom I purchased the item. Now, the PayPal entry just says "Ebay purchase", with the lump-sum amount, and that is how it gets imported into QBO. It doesn't even tell me what the item is. The only breadcrumb is an eBay "Order number".

I have to take that Order Number, search through my "winning item notification" emails, match it up, and then manually split apart each transaction in QBO.

Does anyone know of a way to get transactions directly from eBay which will contain all the information broken out? I don't even particularly care who I purchased from (this is one of the reasons eBay made the change - they want to prevent the buyer from knowing who the seller is, to stop off-platform trading). I just want to see the transactions with the line items split apart, with postage and taxes separated as well.

Thanks!

eBay and managed payments for purchases

I have not yet - I know that there are several apps, but they all seem to focus on eBay from a seller point of view, importing sales. I use eBay mostly for things I purchase for my company, so I want to import purchases

I just tried it - as suspected, there is no functionality to import my purchases, it is focused only on sales.

eBay and managed payments for purchases

Thanks for the details you've provided above, @ralphslate. Through that, I can guide you on the actions you need to take care of this matter.

Your third-party app (Sync with PayPal) controls what and how information is received by QuickBooks. To verify if they can send detailed data of your purchases from eBay, I'd recommend contacting their Customer Care team. One of their representatives will guide you with the necessary fix to resolve your issue.

In line with this, I'm adding these articles to learn more on how transactions are synced into QBO that's based on your PayPal setup and manually importing your transactions:

Should you have any other third-party app concerns and inquiries about managing eBay purchases, just let me know as I'm always here to help. Take care, and wishing you continues success.
