Editing Invoice / Estimate Templates

Hello,

I would like to request some help with my QBO templates. I am using both: The Estimates and the Invoice templates... however, every time I try to customize one of those templates by adding custom fields, those changes appear in the other.

To be more specific: I need my Estimate template to have 3 custom fields that read "Lead time", "Reference" and "sales Rep". I need my invoice template to have 3 custom fields that read "PO#", "Date Shipped" and "Sales Rep".

So far, whenever I have tried to edit the content of the estimate, (by clicking the gear, forms and editing the forms) all of a sudden my invoice template shows those changes.. and vice versa.

My Invoice has the "Invoice" Form Type and my Estimate form has the "Estimate" Form type so I don't understand why, when I add custom fields to one, those changes appear in the other.

Are the custom fields shared among all the forms and there is no way to add different custom fields to those 2 templates? Or is there a trick to it that I am missing?

Any help is appreciated.

Editing Invoice / Estimate Templates

Hello GarciaM!

I understand that you need to customize your invoice and estimate. Let me share some info about it.

Yes, you're right! Changes to one custom field will affect all sale forms in QuickBooks Online Plus and Essentials. In these plans, we're unable to assign a custom field to just one sales form type.

You'll want to upgrade to QuickBooks Online Advanced. This has a feature to assign transaction fields to specific sales forms. For the detailed steps, I've added these links you can check:
