I need to export the Manufacturer's Part Number in the Item List. I don't see it as an option on Customize Report. It is possible to export this field by item?

Exporting Manufacturer's Part Number

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community, KAY15. Yes, it is possible to export the Manufacturer's Part Number by item through some customization. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports tab, then List, and select Items Listing.
  2. Once that report appears, click the Customize Report tab.
  3. In the Modify Report screen, under Columns, put a checkmark next to MPN (Manufacturer's Part Number). At this stage, you can make adjustments to unselect or select what you would like to see displayed on the report.
  4. Click OK once completed.

Now, you can print, email, or export the document as you wish by select one of the options above the report. For more information about customizing reports or exporting data in Quickbooks Desktop, these articles are very resourceful.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or need clarification. I will be just a Reply away. Know that the Community and I are here to cater to your needs at any time. Have a lovely weekend!

How do you list the MPN field in an inventory report?  I have inventory in multiple sites that needs to be coutned and I use the MPN field for the inventory SKUs so I need the MPN column on the inventory report

Thank you for joining the thread, @doug_martin.

Allow me to share additional details about running reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

At this time, we can only add the MPN information or field on the Item Listing report. Displaying the field on any Inventory report is currently unavailable. The good news is, you can open both reports, export them to Excel, and customize the information from there to add the MPN field on your inventory report.

To export the report to Excel:

  1. From the report's page, click on the drop-down arrow under the Excel tab, then select Create New Worksheet.
  2. Click on the Create new worksheet radio button, then tap in a new workbook.
  3. Hit Export. Replicate the steps for the two reports (inventory and item listing).

Once completed, add the details from the MPN field from the Item Listing report to your Inventory report.

To learn more about the basic information about reports in QuickBooks Desktop, feel free to read the details from this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Exporting Manufacturer's Part Number

Similarly, I am trying to print the Manufacturer's Part Number on an Open Purchase Order Report.

When dealing with Purchase Orders and the applicable Vendor, we always refer to their number not ours. I am surprised that I can't add this field to any of my Purchase Reports.

Is there a work around other than creating a custom field and double populating it so that I can print it on a report?

Hello, KimAEInc.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. We can open a report and export them in Excel. From there, you can customize the field you'd like to add on.

You can follow my colleague's steps above on how to perform the exporting in QuickBooks.

So.... let me see if I understand you correctly...

If I want to show the MFR Part# on an Open PO report, I will need to pull two reports.

1. The Open PO report

2. The Item List

Then I need to VLookup the MFR Part# from the item list and display it in my Open PO Report.

Is this what you're saying??

Thanks for getting back to this thread, @KimAEInc. Allow me to clarify things for you.

You are right about what my colleague is trying to say.

To show the MFR Part # on an Open PO report, you will need to pull two reports. Then, export this to Microsoft Excel. From there, add the MFR Part# from the item list and display it in my Open PO Report.

You can follow the steps provided by my colleague above on how to export reports. Otherwise, check this article for the detailed procedure: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop

In addition, let me share this resource for you to better understand the functionality of reports in QuickBooks Desktop: Understand reports.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about managing reports in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to lend a helping hand. Stay safe always!

Is it possible to add the Manufacturer's Part Number field to be included in printing the assembly Bill of Materials?

I've included a sample of what the print-out currently looks like through Quickbooks. Would love to be able to add MPN as one of the columns here.
