"but I see what your talking about. It doesn't show the invoice numbers."
If you filter on showing only Payments as the transaction type, then by definition you also told it now to incllude invoices in the view.
"Is there a way to see one customer at a time."
The customer center is one customer at a time. Single click on a name to see their activity on the right = their Transactions.
"The reason is when we do commissions and the AP person needs to see how an invoice was paid. If it was a write off, or the items were returned we need to know."
You keep stating "how an invoice was paid." You can Right Click in the body of the transactions listing and Customize Columns and select to see Pay Method as part of this list, but Payment Method is assigned when you are processing a Payment or a Sales Receipt; not invoices.
If you want to know if there are no returns, then leave the transaction list as All transaction types and scan for Credit Memos, or filter on showing only Credit Memos and look at dates.
