Has anyone have an issue in changing QuickBook plans, invoices not transferring? What did you do to get them back, or are they gone for good?

I went form Self-Employed to the Simple Plan, it did not transfer any of my invoices and I am missing one of my clients. Does any one have ideas to get these back or can I?

Hello there, derick.root.

Let me help and make sure you'll be able to transfer your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) data to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Simple Start.

Also, please keep in mind that you can't go back to QuickBooks Self-Employed once you switch to QuickBooks Online.

You'll need to export your data from QBSE and import them to your QBO account.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, select the Transactions on menu.
  2. Select the transaction types, accounts, and time period you want to download from the drop-down menus.
  3. Select the option to Download Transaction into a CSV file icon at the top of the transaction list.
  4. Open your QuickBooks Simple Start company.
  5. Select Banking on menu.
  6. Choose Upload File and click Browse to the location of your saved CSV file of downloaded QBSE transactions.
  7. Match the statement fields from the CSV with the ones in QuickBooks Online. Then click on Next.
  8. Select the transactions, then hit Next.
  9. Click on Yes, then select Let's go.

You can check this article for more information about switching from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online.

So those files that didn’t transfer are gone. I think there may need to be a little more information on this at the front in. Because, after the fact doesn’t really help. But, thank you for trying and for the information.

So those files are gone. I do think there should be more on this at the front end. Help make people aware of what they need too do. Thank for trying to help.

Hello, derick.root.

You can download those files from your QuickBooks Self-Employed account and import them to QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Self-Employed, select the Transactions menu.
  2. Select the transaction types, accounts, and time period you want to download from the drop-down menus.
  3. Tap the download icon at the top of the transaction list.
  4. Save the file somewhere that's easy to find.

Then you can follow my colleague's steps above on how to import them in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, if you're new to QBO, I recommend the following resource as it contains tutorials to help a user become accustomed to the software: QuickBooks Tutorials

The Community has your back so please let me know if you have additional questions on importing, or anything else. Best wishes.
