Hey! Is it possible to export all raw data? Specifically, I'd love to see every expense by account by class for a month — is this possible?

For context: the goal here is that for any given month we can know exactly — how much was spend by each account, each department (classes are departments for us), and — hopefully — what were the individual transactions for each account and department.

Not sure if my reply went through below, but for more context: we plan to incorporate this data into a separate excel, budget model so we need output. The ideal output is an export of every transaction as a row, and account and class as columns. Is that doable?

Hi ben70. The best way to review this type of information from within QuickBooks Online would be by running a Profit & Loss Detail report. Inside the report, you can have a detailed breakdown of all expenses and income from each account you would like to review.

You can also view individual transactions by clicking on them from within the report. Here's how to run a Profit & Loss Detail report:

  1. Select Reports on the left of your screen
  2. In the search box, search for Profit & Loss Detail and select it once it appears
  3. Once selected the report will populate the information based on the date stamp selected at the top.

Here are some articles as well on the reporting features in QBO

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

We plan to incorporate this data into our budget model, so I need an excel file or CSV. The P&L export, in this instance, doesn't really get us there — there's no detail into classes or transactions, and the formatting makes it tough to translate into other documents. A raw output would be much more preferable.

Is there a way to get a CSV or excel file of all our transactions for a given time frame? The ideal here would be every transaction as a row, and "Account" as a column, and "Class" as another column.

Hi ben70. Currently, there's no way to export the data other than with the feature within the reports you were speaking of. However,  our engineers are always happy to hear feedback on how they can improve QuickBooks Online to work better for your business's needs. Here's how you can leave your feedback:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion in the box
  3. You'll be provided a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment, but you can select Skip and send message.
  4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send message.

Please don't hesitate to come back if you need anything else. There's always someone ready to help in the QuickBooks Community.

@ben70

Explore TPE for QBO. You may export some transactions type with class data (i.e Bills, Invoices, CC Charges, CC Credits, Purchase Cash, Sales Receipts, etc)
